Chervonohrad: Reaching out to Kids of Anti-Terrorist Operation Combatants
10.03.2016Youth Commitment Service “True Love Waits”
10.03.2016On the 27th of February 2016 Gethsemane Church carried out the event “Present Candlemas to a Child!” for the children of anti-terrorist operation combatants. About 200 people attended the event. The program started with children’s songs about God’s love and the joy it brings.
The deacon of Gethsemane Church Pavlo Vasikov narrated about Candlemas, remarking it is not about the winter meeting spring, but about the day when righteous Simeon and Anna met newborn Jesus.
The servants of the children and teenagers’ ministry performed a sketch about Candlemas. The deacon Pavlo Vasikov led a quiz for children about Candlemas. The children were divided into four groups (stations), as was announced by deaconess Iryna Naprasnyk. The children made craft cutouts as the presents for the parents.
Petro Semak from the Blessing Community (Greek Catholic St. Volodymyr and Olha Church) performed the scientific tests, which illustrated the miracles of God’s natural laws and told about the importance of knowing the Creator Himself.
As a final note, every child received a gift box “Samaritan ( purse”, which had been prepared by Canadian and USA Christians and meant to bring joy to children in Ukraine and tell them about Jesus Christ. We thank the Lord for His grace and a nice time together! Thank you, Lord, for the presents!
